Kingstylez: “Wake & Bake” (Prod. Blasian Beats) – A Sharp Wit and Good Storytelling!

The fact that Kingstylez sounds like no one else in the rap game is a definite advantage. Also, it’s refreshing that he’s not rapping about his cars or his jewelry. Kingstylez is a young rapper with a sharp wit and good sense of humor, which is a very unique combination. He doesn’t try to be a gangsta or a pimp, he just does his own thing and the result is a great single describing his grind, in the form of “Wake & Bake” (Prod. Blasian Beats).

On listening to the track, my first reaction was that the production was awesome. But from there it was just all smiles. Kingstylez has a unique voice and a great ability to tell stories. He makes you feel what he wants you to feel, be it anger, laughter, being uplifted and inspired or whatever.

Of course people are going to want to compare him to the hundreds of new rappers coming in daily. But the interesting thing is that this production differs radically from the other stuff being put out right now. If only for the fact that “Wake & Bake” (Prod. Blasian Beats) has no features or guests, and better still, there is no female voice singing the chorus hook. In fact there is no hook in the true mainstream sense.

“Wake & Bake” (Prod. Blasian Beats) is a straight Rap song that cuts to the core without all the top heavy frills that detract from the rappers technical ability, his flow and lyrical content – these are all new school tricks used by inadequate emcees to embellish a sub-standard delivery.

Kingstylez, fortunately has no need for any of this as he has a great flow, solid lyricism and is able to stay focused on those qualities.  This dude has an honesty to his story telling, while his delivery is raw and he sounds like a true wordsmith already.

I suppose this forms part of his legacy, coming from the eclectic Midwest which has seen a lot of its hip-hop talents rise to national and international prominence since the mid-90’s, many have even gone on to become legends. Where Kingstylez will end up on that timeline depends on how much he puts into his grind, and how much listeners will get out of it.

In between there is the need to open all the proverbial closed doors to be found along the way, while a good dose of good fortune would also be helpful to back up the talent Kingstylez puts on display.
