Dregas: “Cocaine Dance Party” pure dance-funk, eargasmic heaven!

Dregas just released the music video to her new single “Cocaine Dance Party”. If you listen to this song – even ONCE – it will creep into your soul and take your entire body hostage. You will not be able to stop listening for hours, and you will love the takeover. Dregas takes it to a whole new level with “Cocaine Dance Party”, and it is pure, dance-funk, eargasmic heaven.

From the rocking horn section to the butt-kicking basslines and vocal hooks, Dregas and her production crew serve up an entertaining musical artifact that quenches the dance-floor appetite. “Cocaine Dance Party” is street-wild and party ready for any playlist. The song has a distinct kind of retro bang-bang beat reminiscent of the 70s, when almost everything had an immediately infectious beat.

In the midst of all the no-talent pseudo musicians and singers out there Dregas shows the world how it’s done. Go on, tap your feet, get up and dance. It’s what this music is supposed to do to you.

“Cocaine Dance Party” grabbed my attention from the first note, and proceeded to deliver everything I like in a groove-based song; soaring vocals, majestic melodies and harmonies together with a driving rhythm section and effervescent horn interludes. All those elements are timely delivered by Dregas on this track.

“Cocaine Dance Party” manages to be musically serious yet catchy and accessible at the same time, as Dregas successfully combines pop funk sensibility and instrumental savoir faire into a wonderful balance of harmony, sophistication, seduction and driving dance energy.

More About Degas:

dregas-400A California native, Dregas was born in a culturally diverse household to Korean and African-American parents. Though her parents urged her to follow in their footsteps and pursue a career in medicine, it was very apparent that her calling was music. At the tender age of four, Dregas began playing piano. Her parents noticed this and immediately got her piano lessons. After being classically trained on the piano, Dregas delved into other instruments including the electric bass guitar, synthesizers, electric organ, and saxophone.

In high school Dregas played in the school band and built up her music cred by playing bass with local punk-rock acts. After high school, Dregas attended USC and acquired many talented musical cohorts as well as a degree in Creative Writing which has helped her hone her skills in songwriting. Over the years, Dregas has performed and collaborated with Mr. Downstairs, Maiya Sykes, The Downtown Horns, Chase Meyer and Dan McMains of The Heirs, The Makers, Adam Keller, The Intervals, Matt Seikel, Chad Petree of Shiny Toy Guns, and The Red Elvises. Now, Dregas is touring all over the world and is about to drop her first solo album with the lead single “Cocaine Dance Party”.
