Diordan E. Abreu better known by his stage name DeeNycee, is a Dominican hip hop artist. DeeNycee started back in the mid-2000s by writing his thoughts and feelings on napkins, notebooks, envelopes nearly anything in sight. In 2015 he released his first mixtape on Soundcloud titled “Life Lines Part 1: Dark Truth”. This debut mixtape takes listeners back through the years and illustrates a picture with DeeNycee’s choice of word play and flow. The founder and CEO of the ‘UntouchableMusic’ label, DeeNycee has also dropped his premier single, entitled “My World”.
On this single, DeeNycee strives to find the perfect mix of street and R&B. The track describes the haters, industry and what artists like himself has to go through just to make it in the business. This Rapper is lyrically talented to the full extent, trust me people, I listened to this track thoroughly. The only thing I might have done to make the track a whole lot more palatable to a wider commercial audience, is engage a female voice on the hooks.
This would have given the track some bright contrasts to DeeNycee’s fiery brimstone rapping style, adding a colorful vibe to the whole sonic procession. But these are personal choices perfected in the production room, according to the song’s chosen target significance. So I’m sure DeeNycee has his reasons for the choices made there.
Musically, “My World” is a step up from “Fuck With Me” or even “Santuary”. The sounds are more layered with a great organic feel. The string arrangements bring something special to the table, feeding the track with a warmth missing from previous releases.
DeeNycee has the mentality to do what it is he was born to do and that is what I like about him the most. He delivers amazing flows with originality and truly impresses me with his back beats. I can’t find anything wrong with it. He develops new terms and incorporates everything in his rhymes. Making his tracks end up with real charm. Exactly what happens on “My World”!
All-round the song is fire and shows an artist with some real potential to fulfill. The fact that he addresses issues in the rap game, and raps about different topics shows his maturity. Also he changes his flow and style on his tracks which gives some variety to his music.
DeeNycee is one of those rare rappers that have it all: Lyricism, witty charisma and a respectable gangsta element. DeeNycee’s flow and lyrics continue to be among the best in the game. Yet I know that he can still get better!
