In preparation for the release of his first full length album titled “Before Da Storm,” Da Butcher has put together an exclusive 3 song promo with 2 skits, including production from Allrounda Beats, Cash Jordan, ALR, Sledgren and Quest Beats. The sampler was recorded and mixed by DJ Itchyfinga at L.A.B. studios.
The sample tracks from the upcoming album are like candy for hip-hop lovers in a good way: sweet, substantial, and satisfying. Over infections, synth tunes precisely made for each beat. Hip-hop does not always need to address the wrongs in society – sometimes it is enough just to share some experiences and have fun.
Da Butcher spiritual tales on “Clouds” or his spitting about his game and the music business on “Listen” and “Action” are present, but they are almost secondary to his amazing alliterative wordplay. A couple of skits plus 3 cream of the crop songs, and Da Butcher’s wordplay, should be enough of a calling card for “Before Da Storm.”
As always, Da Butcher is determined to test the boundaries of his skill, and then go beyond them. If you love sharp word play and spacey beats you’ll love this. The beats are so good I’ve got this on heavy rotation. Pity it’s only three tracks or snippets thereof.
Da Butcher’s flow on these songs and the chemistry with the producers take his game to a level I have never seen him on before. Always deadpan, he has a tone, rhyme scheme and wizardry with consonant sounds that will hypnotize your ears.
I can’t wait to hear what the full album will be bringing to his game in the near future. These tracks however, just further prove the point that the Da Butcher is here to stay, and has plenty of flame to bring to the table yet.
